Anyone purchase a buttstock from Numrich?
« on: September 13, 2011, 04:06:38 PM »
Putting together another Topper and need a forend, forend screw and stock bolt from Numrich and also would consider purchasing a pistol grip buttstock if they have one available without the hard buttplate or that red recoil pad that H&R used pre bancruptcy.

Looking for something that is kinda soft to the shoulder. Any ideas if Numrich has this? It could be painted black or stained hardwood as I would get the buttstock and forend to match.

Why don't you just post in the WTB?

Because the forend is different than the Handi/Ultra so I have to purchase a forend separately from Numrich so a buttstock would have to be bought and I don't want to pay shipping twice.

The red recoil pad I have from H&R of years gone by has very little give, so I put it on the hornet stock, but if I was going to shoot it on anything with much recoil at all I would order a different stock (or pad), the recoil pad I have is hard as a rock and is VERY slippery, it moves around very easy on the shoulder and even slips when squeezing the trigger. So unless it is for a shotgun with mild recoil  I would think twice. Unless mine is the only one like that, sorry if the rest of you have nice soft grippy pads, but mine is sure none of those things.

just re-read original post, oops sounds like you know you don't want the red recoil pad already. Sorry about that.

I've got one of the old ones and it's just like yours. Hard as a rock and slippery. There's no difference between it and a regular hard plastic buttplate.

I also think a WTB here on GBO is the first level of attack. I dont know what is too different in what you want to put on the Topper, the offerings havent changed very much for the basic stocks. My old Topper stuff interchanges with the newer, just the forestock screw is a different pitch.
