Has anyone tried the .22 Hornet conversion in their Encore Muzzleloader. I just recently purchased a 209x50 and have found 3 loads that print 1" groups at 100 yards, 2 with Dead Center and 1 with Barnes 250 X. I have read Cecil's website and think this has some possibility for improved accuracy with little or no blow-back into the fame. Has anyone tried this conversion and what results have you seen, good and bad.

Got mine installed just before muzzle loader season and checked zero. Shot good but I only shot enough to make sure my scope was still ON. Our season ends in another week and then I plan to bolt a bigger scope and see what she'll do. Did not get any blow-back, but that had not been a problem anyway. Biggest advantage so far....those hornet cases are sure a lot easier to handle with my old, cold, arthritic, fumbling fingers than the 209's. GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt :-D :-D :-D :-D

.22 Hornet conversion for an Encore muzzle loader.....................
Am I missing something here? How do you convert from .45 or .50 to .22?
And what do you do with the breech plug?

Oh!!!!!!!!!! dummy me ,I see now. Using the .22 hornet case instead of a 209 for ignition. :roll:

The 25 acp makes an easier conversion and you can use standard cases without trimming. I need to take the calipers and get the dimensions as I had a friend who runs a machine shop drill and ream out my breech plug to fit the case. I see someone used a 22 cal wire brush to clean, I will need to get one of those since T7 is extremely corrosive to the brass. Happy hunting
