460 in a Encore Pistol.............

Has anyone tried the 460 in a Encore Pistol and if so whats your take on it ?

I figured that much looking at the S&W Revolver. What about ported then again there probably isnt a brake out there to tame it!

You would be better off with a 454 Casull over the 460 S&W Magnum.

Yes, I've tried it.  What I would recommend is:

1.  Make sure the barrel has a brake.

2.  Shoot a 500 S&W Mag. for awhile; then the 460 won't seem so bad.

3.  If you scope it, be sure not to skimp on scope or mounts.

I had a friend that for a short time had a 460 S&W Encore handgun barrel.  Even with 454 Casull loads, the recoil was too much for him.  I, of course, offer to let him shoot mine whenever the chance presents itself.

I have one, shoot 454's and 45 Colts in it mostly, accuracy good  with all three...............

I shoot 45 Colts in mine, but the 454 and 460 are all very accuratein it too. Be okay for a one shot while hunting, but really hurts sighting it in.........haven't fired it in a long time.....need to  trade it off.........
