Winchester Model 70 Carbine?
« on: January 05, 2004, 06:11:21 PM »
Hello

I just purchased a used Winchester Rifle and was curious if anybody else out there has this Model 70?  It is a Winchester Model 70 Carbine in 30/06.  It has a twenty inch barrel and a push feed bolt.  I am trying to figure out its age or around about when Winchester produced these rifles.  I know it was made after 1981 because I found a web site that had Winchester serial numbers listed and mine was higher than the listed numbers.  The last year listed was 1981. Other than that I was unable to find much out about this model.  The gun looks brand new so Iam curious as to its age because it is looking like I got a really good deal.  I paid 200cdn for it so I couldn't really go wrong.  Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated!

My hunting buddy has one in 270 win. ,he has had it over 15 years and was used when he got it . Great little gun made me go out and buy light ruger in 270 ,so easy to carry. His is also push feed. Winchester made 7200 of them from 1936 to 1946.This comes from a book i have called THE COMPLETE BOOK OF THE MODEL 70,call winchester and ask them they will help you i,m sure.
I enjoy collecting guns, swaping and staying up on all the newest models. I deer, quail, squirrel and rabbit hunt.

My dad had that exact gun and then found something else he wanted so he traded it off.  He has kicked himself every time he thinks about that gun.  It was a terrific gun and it sounds like you got a very good deal.
