Thank You GBO, What a Great Resource
« on: August 24, 2011, 02:52:41 AM »
Don't post much but have lurked for almost two years now, ever since I purchased a youth .243 for my 10 year old son.  Like most who get the affliction, one Handi was not nearly enough.  It wasn't long before I had purchased the components to put together a 20 gauge Ultra Slug gun (late winter 2011 before the last component was purchased).  The first range trip revealed a pop open problem upon each firing.  Came back, used the search function and following the instructions for pop open medicine.  Back to the range a few months later and still an issue.  Back to the search function for barrel fitting instructions.  I smoked the latch and discovered an uneven engagement.  After a little work, smoking the latch shelf showed even engagement.  Yesterday, the boy and I made it back to the range and after he shot the .243 some, I pulled out the slug gun and burned up a few rounds.  Not the first pop open issue.  Was rewarding to be able to "build" the gun and fix the problems.  I just want to thank GBO and all the folks who took (take) the time to put information here.  I couldn't (wouldn't) have accomplished this task without it.  Thanks. :)

.......and, it gets better all the time.  It doesn't hurt to kick a spare buck or two (whatever that is??) into the server fund from time to time.

I hate this site with a passion. It takes up all my spare time and makes me realize I need more guns, ammo, money and more anything that has to do with the outdoors. I am an addict and need help. Someone must have a cure but I don't know what it is. If you find a cure stay away from me. This addiction hurts so bad(good).
