Encore Barrel Storage
« on: January 07, 2004, 09:51:03 AM »
I have my third encore barrel on order and have begun to realize that storing them without damaging the crown or the mounted scopes can be a problem.  I do not want to buy more hard cases - and storing them becomes a space issue as well.  I figure that some of the readers who have numerous barrels have come up with some creative solutions - and I welcome any words of wisdom.

I use the "bore store" type of gun sock for my handguns, and for my T/C barrels. They don't cost much, they last a long time, and they also protect aginst rust .

I alos keep my Contender in one when it has the carbine barrel on it, as it won't reach the rack in my safe.

I made one similiar to that.  I used a piece of plastic 1" thick, cut 10 slots in it for the lugs and cut a slot lengthwise the size of the extractor pins.  I hang my Contneder pistol barrels on it.  I put legs on it a put it across the back of my safe, it is held in place by shelf clips on top of the section that has the cutouts for the long gun muzzles.  9 barrels lined up right in a row.  I went out to try btracker1's idea and then realized that I leave the forends on my barrels and cannot get to the hinge pin hole without storing the forend somewhere else.
