TC/Smith and Wesson summer Shut-down
« on: August 01, 2011, 06:29:27 AM »
Hey,

I hope nobody's got repairs in to Thompson Center - like I do.

They're in the midst of the move from New Hampshire to Springfield, and closed for the next two weeks for a welll deserved summer break.

It was a bit iffy finding where my receiver was, but Jon at S&W came through.  Excellent service thus far as usual.  I'm going to stay confident the service will remain excellent after the relo - as it has been in the past.

I'll just shoot the big thumper for the time being.

I just sent a TCR-83 in for repair. Last year I shot a coyote with it with a barrel in 6mm-06 thinking the next time I would use it would be for the 2011 January antler-less deer season. I tried to check the chamber to be sure it was unloaded before putting it away and it would not un-breach. I sent it in for repair and finally got it back in May. I put the scope back on it and tried to get it sighted in. I shot it three times and each time it un-breached as it was fired. I sent it in a couple weeks ago and wonder if they will get it repaired in time for the January 2012 antler-less deer season? I am 62 years old and pretty healthy, but consider losing a couple deer seasons with my favorite medium range deer rifle at my age to be a significant impact. At least I have back-up rifles.

Stuart - I agree, TC has done a pretty good job on customer service under S&W rule even without good old Tim there.   Can't say it was as good as it was before S&W took over and Tim retired though.

Don - If they are still on the relocation schedule they started the year with, they are suppose to be all moved and settled by fall, plenty of time before your 1/12 hunt.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
