uncle mike's hammer ext

wondering how critical/necessary to stone the hammer for the set screw per intallation directions from UM's

anyone had slippage without doing it

what tools are needed etc---limited tools here

dremmel,files?????

I really don't have much idea as to what you are talking about.. What hammer, from what gun,  what are you installing from UM (Uncle Mikes?)??? More info is needed for a cognizant reply.

I've put them on a lot of guns and never read the instructions.  Guess I have been missing something special all this time.  Larry

sorry--it's for the hammer on the 45 LC carbine---instructions say to stone a flat where the set screw tightens against the hammer

I've never done anything like that but freely admit to also not having read the instructions.. I'd likely just drill a little detent to hold the point of the set screw and LocTite the screws threads..

I have never done anything other then using the setscrew. Now that most of that stuff is made in China, perhaps it is necessary to file or grind.

glad to know others have just used the set screw w/out diddling with the hammer and risk going through the hardenning layer---which was my main concern---other than the possible slippage of the extension itself
