The 2-7X33 Nikon Prostaff works & fits better on the Handi than any other scope.

I'll second the Nikon 2-7, this is the scope on my son's .44.  My .44 carries a Bushnell Elite 3200 1.5-4.5x and I love it.  Another good option are the Nikon muzzleloading scopes with ballistic reticles (they are dead on for many .44 hunting loads including the factory Leverevolution ammo.)  All can be had at Natchez, some for as much as 50% off for a refurb!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

WELCOME!!
First off, I am a proponent of buying the best quality glass you can afford. The cost of such doesn't relate to the cost of the firearm...  Most all of mine wear Leupold's. But I realize they are expensive. So I suggest you look for a used better scope either in our own classifieds or on EBay.

My own favorite is the VXII 2x7x33 Matte finish. I have a number of them  ::)

Another member said this and I have repeated it many times, I cannot afford a cheaper scope than a Leupold...

OH and they fit handis just as nice as the Nikon and you can actually use them in lo light. ;)

Here is a couple in different mounts...

This is a factory base with a MED WEAVER 4X4 ring:

Here is a M8 3X in MED Leupold rings on a facotry base:

Here is another 2x7 in LO Leupold rings and a factory base:

Here is a 1x4x20 Leupold in Leupold LO rings

Here is a on Redfield 3X again in LO Leupold rings and a stock H&R base;

I really like Leupolds, I wouldn't use cheap rings, and like I said the Nikon Prostaff fits better than others.

+1 for spikehorn.  I also like the Simmons Prodiamond Master shotgun scopes from Natchez, unless they're on sale at Optics Planet or SWFA right now.  Good scope for the price.

Leupold of course is tops, mine cost more than a new handi... so I use old Burris mini, Weaver or Redfield off Ebay or optics forums.  I REALLY like old Burris scopes.

For a 100 yard deer or hog gun like a 44mag, I would consider a 2x or 4x fixed power scope, compact as possible, in the moderate priced brands of scopes along the lines of Swift Reliant, Bushnell Banner...
The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.

My .223 wears a Bushnell Banner Dusk and Dawn four power fixed. Simple and trouble free.

The diamond in the middle really gives me some fast acquisition on target.
