Looking for some loads
« on: June 14, 2011, 06:01:20 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has some good 357 Mag loads for their  handi
using 158 grain LSWC gas checked bullets. I have IMR 4227,Titegroup and W296
powders to choose from.
I was wondering if 1500 fps is possible using this bullet without leading problems.

i  use 3 grains  of bullseye

because that is the lee dipper closest to what i want

one  pound of powder will make 2,333  rounds

and  it is a good load....
very quiet in the handi rifle

.[my slugs  are 185 WFN]

SORRY
i answered as if you were asking  for  38 special  loads

I haven't loaded .357 in a few years, and have never worked up a rifle load for .357.  In the Handi I would probably go with either W296 (14.5 grains) or 15 grains of 2400.  These are "Full House Magnum" loads and work best with magnum primers, but can be used with standard primers.  My load manuals show a max load of 4227 has a velocity about 300 fps slower than these two.

Use these at your own risk, as with all load data.  According to my manuals they are safe, but there could be typo's in them or on this post.

6 grains of bullseye
my second smallest lee  dipper
1,116  rounds per pound

not the  hottest  load   but shoots  good and i  had 8 pounds of bullseye

i really like the dippers.......
easy  to duplicate a good load when you find it  with out much set-up variables

I bought them from a forum member on canadiangunnutz.com a year or so
ago. This will be the first time I am trying them.
