Grey wolf control to go back to the state.......

While I support the idea that wolves have a place in Wisconsin's ecosystem, I've always contended that their numbers need to be controlled by hunting. This latest lift of the endangered species protection means that soon Wisconsin will have the final say as to how many wolves are enough. Don't know what unsuccessful hunters will blame their unfilled tags on now tho............ ::)

The way things are going I don't see a legal season providing much relief any time soon. The limit will be to low to be of much significance. Of course I support the direction it's going. Then you see the anti hunting groups(yes, that's what they are) have already said they will be in court again over this. A little judge shopping & no telling how this will turn out. >:(

One thing I know, if you want to control the wolf you don't head out with your trusty 243. Yes, there are a few opportunities while deer hunting. Just watch the DNR  & Feds operate. They use appropriate traps & beaver or venison bait.  ;)

Anyone seeing any wolves lately. The numbers seem down a bit in the last year. I saw no sign of wolves the last 2 times in Price co. Except the 2 dead deer eaten down to nothing over the winter.

I saw NO wolf tracks in northeastern Washburn county during the 2010 deer season.  First time in 15 years.   Saw where a pair was working over the John Waggoner Road area in January, 2011, but that only lasted a month or so.  We should all know by now that petitions and legalities won't reduce wolf numbers.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

Marinette and Oconto County have lots of them. Coon hunters are not happy, the dogs get hit once and a while... >:(
