I was checking my birdhouses the other day to see if anything had built a nest in them this past summer. I opened one up and there was a nest inside that didn't look like a bird nest. I started pulling it apart and there was some brown fur in the rolled up grass. I got a trashcan to knock the rat nest in and let my dogs catch him. I put the trashcan up against the birdhouse and started to knock it in. I decided to check it one more time. I pulled more grass back this time, revealing a cute and familiar face. It was a flying squirrel. I had one when I was a kid. I decided to leave her alone. I haven't seen one in about 16 years. I guess since they are nocturnal, they are hard to see. I haven't looked back in to see if she still lives there. I don't want to put any pressure on her, she might move in our house. :?
