Finally got some shooting
« on: February 16, 2011, 10:34:24 AM »
Well what a difference a week makes.Last week -double digits. This week 68* outside.Went out back and set up my 50yd table.Shot some different loads of H110.The target on the left is 5 shots 21 grs under a remmy 180 JSP.Middle target is 23 grs. same bullet. The right target is 22 grs.All 5 shot groups. The tape is covering my attempt of getting some 180 gr.RNFP missouri Bullet .358 lead to shoot.A twelve shot pattern.Looks worse than 00 buck!!!.I'll have some of these bulets for trade as soon as my buddy counts what he has left.Should be close to 450 of them.As cheap as the Remies are I'll just shoot them.Slow

Great shooting. Looks like all the loads you worked up were accurate.

grank1,

the lead bullets probably are not gas checked and getting pushed too hard by the H110.  I can duplicate his buckshot pattern with H110  and 158 grain LWSCBB in my 357 Maxi.

I am inclined to agee BB. Dollars to donuts there is a workable lead bullet load for that rifle, and maybe even with the bullets youve got (if the dia. is close to right).

Your right there probably is a workable load for them. But they aren't gas checked and I want to load a pretty stout load with the maxy. The Remmies JSP's shoot almost into one hole with20-23 grains of H 110.The 21 and 23 grs.especially.I can buy them from a guy here locally for $19.00 a hundred and the dang leads are almost the same after shipping.Gas checked are the same.I don't cast,so why fight it?

Thanks Tim.Yes I could, but the way the 180 JSP's shoot I don't think i have to worry about a lead load for it.I can get these for cheaper the messing with the gas checks or buying GC bullets. The 180 lead are now in the reloading classifieds.

Also the loads i found were in a old T/C book.Mine is on a SB-2 frame so now worries. No signs of high pressure either. They eject just fine and very little bit of flat primers.

Well did some trading and got some 158 gr.JFP's for the lead bullets.Loaded six different loads. It likes the 26 gr.load of AA1680 and a 23 gr.load of 296.I loaded these to the same length of my 180 gr.loads.They are crimped about a 1/8"below the groove. They are shooting just about 2" high at 50 were as the 180's are coming in at 1" high.Haven't got to shoot them at 100yd yet.The dang weather wont cooperate when I have the time to go over to my neighbors.
