:-\ the little bit I have read about the model 64, it was a little nicer rifle with cut checkering, and of course the 24 inch barrel with a half magazine..these things were offered in the 94 on a custom basis in the early years...I have no knowledge when they quit these options...I know the 94 that Tom Horn carried was very similar to the later model 64...my neighbor had a model 64 30-30 when I was a kid...all of us would have gladly traded the model 94 carbines we had for that delux model 64...of course Marlin offered the same options in its rifle...and I would take my 24 inch barreled half mag. model 336 in 30-30 over any carbine I ever saw..I think one of the things we must remember is when we look back at those days, the number of calibers and models of firearms were very, very, very limited compared to todays market...

Winchester 64s were not all deluxe guns. They made a standard version as well. I've owned several over the years but none shot as well as a model 94 rifle or some of the carbines I've owned. I've owned several carbines maybe 4 that were real shooters.
