« on: February 18, 2011, 07:12:00 AM »
Some of you may have heard of an outdoorsman by the name of dick Proenneke who lived in the Alaska wilderness. I seen his videos on PBS a couple of years back and I have to say that it was intriguing.

I hope that you enjoy this,
Ron

Here is a brief story about him via You tube.

Dick was quiet the outdoor person.  Dont  know if he trapped but did hunt meat for eating.  Dick was very handy with wood tools and  he must have gotten that skill before he came to Alaska.  I believe they made his cabin into something.

I saw that story on TV, very interesting is was. If I remember correctly he didn't go to the wilderness until he was 50 years old or there abouts and took a lot of skills and the right tools for building and  survival along with him. They didn't mention him trapping, only bringing in a carabou or dall sheep for his winters's food.
