Open bail, closed spinning, or baitcasting.  What brands do you also consider the best?

Ambassadeur 4500 or 5000 for plastics and Mitchell 300 for spinners and Rapala's. For the past few years I have been using a Rhino RSC3 spincast. I have not been disapointed with it.

My all time favorite was the Zebco Cardinal 4...Unfortunately they quit making it 25 or so years ago...I then started using 4300 Penns, now they have quit making those...Good thing I have plenty of both as well as a few Mitchell 300s acquired from one of my wife's uncles...

If you like Spinning,,go with the Penn Battle. Its what I use on my Charters.

For bait casters, go with Pflueger. They also have a lot of other good reels. I have used them in the salt for many years..

I bought some cheap Shakesphere bait casters (plastic) from Sam's a few years ago and they are worn out.  I have an Ambassaduer 5000 that Is over 30 years old and still kicking.  I do get tired of birds nests in the bait casters, especially if you change lures.  I've never got the hang of the open faced reels.  I guess I need to practice.
