I must have different coyotes- i'd 100% rather "under" guide than OVER guide to consistently take coyotes. the set itself, should be 99% of your guiding.
granted, over and under are subjective words- but too much blocking will indeed spook coyotes in my opinion.
there are exceptions- such as tree, rock littered landscapes- in those areas, if cows are present (to avoid cows), one can indeed block in sets, but in those conditions, they don't appear to be blocked in.
people catch coyotes every year in blocked in or even bare sets- but the exception isn't the rule.
