A long found treasure found!
« on: January 03, 2011, 04:57:36 AM »
I got a call this morning from an old neighbor asking me to come over. I went to his house about a half hour later. He told me to sit down, offered me a cup of coffee and said that he has something to tell me. My heart kinda sank into my stomach as I briefly wondered what in the hell happened.
He told me that the folks that had bought my folks old house had a visitor come by and asked about me. At this point I asked myself "Just how long does the Statute of Limitations last" (I wasnt always an angel)? He proceeded to go into his garage and bring in two old milk crates that had traps in them. mostly #110 & old single long springs. He then asked if I wanted them. I said sure but whats up with the fellow who was looking for me. He told me to take a closer look at those traps. As I pulled out and looked, it didn't hit me right away what was going on until I looked at the trap tags. They we my old traps from when I was a kid!
Before my folks had moved, they sold them in a garage sale. This happened after I moved out myself. The guy who had bought them apparently gave up trapping and wanted to give them back to me. I have this gentleman's phone number and already gave him a call only to get his voice mail. I hope that he calls me back soon. I want to thank him for what I consider a long lost treasure!

Had a kind of simular thing happen with just a trap tag. It was actually a federal tag we are required to use here on the river. I had my name ingraved on the back of the tags when a bunch of my traps were stolen. Think it was in 1979 or 80 when they were stolen, without going and looking at the tag. Several years back a fella I know was sorting through a big jar of tags he bought at and auction. I bumped into him one day at and auction coulpe doors down from his house. He say hey I got something I want to give you and disapears.  He comes back after a bit and hands me this trap tag, 20 years after I had lost it to a thief.
Seemed kinda cool! To get that one little tag after all those years.

TRAPnHUNT and Mac, that is quite a neat thing to happen.  The traps for sure and the tag is unique  for sure.  Mac i hope you got that tag up where people can see and ask what is that?
