Fear not, barbecueing works fine in cold weather

For the south eastern contingent: If it's cold or stormy today, just have a barbecue. I made a rack of spare ribs last week when it was -10F and the wind was blowing.

In WA state and I grill/BBQ year around. Sometimes I gotta knock the snow of the grill, sometimes I need a coat and hat.My BIL gave me a redi chek thermometer, it has a sending unit and a receiver.Put the probe in the meat and turn it on, watch the receiver inside, flip steaks or other meat at 100 degres and you're G2G.

Yep, here in Michigan we grill year round too, for the more serious of us about our BBQ, rain or snow dont slow us down much at all.
i have many times, grilled in my garage during storms, heavy rain or heavy snow.

My grill sits right next to my smoker on the front porch!  Year around Q!!!!!

Here in Arizona in the summer, you just wheel it out in the sun and toss your meat on. Come back in an hour---it's done!

Time has improved things, then. Many years ago a buddy and me wrapped some hamburgers in foil and set them on a road in Arizona and cooked them in about a half hour. They were well done too. Tasty. It was august or early september. Most people who talk about road food don't realize you can do it yourself if there isn't much traffic.

Hey where do you get those remote temp sensors?  I could use that!  My problem is that grilling at dinner time here in Bristol Bay its so dark its hard to watch the meat, even when I bring a drop light with me.

Also, my grill uses glass enamel coated grates.  Firing up the grill at low temps causes the coating to pop off.  So I have to replace the grill every few years.

Last year I was good and kept the grate inside and it held up well but I forgot this winter and I can see the damage is done.
