I have decided that due to economic constraints this would seem to be the most practical rifle to buy. As far as reloading and all. What can you guys tell me about the round not only ballistics and load data but of personal experiences such as performance on game in field experience if you will. All your information would be much appreciated and also I would also like to ask even though it might sound foolish but the SB1 frame that the 357 comes with is it more than sufficient for the Max? Also I have read on here that many people are just using 357 mag dies to load the max? Is there a trick to it is there anything special that needs to be obtained or do they just make a whole reloading set for the Max? If so that would be the route that i would take. Also as far as pointed bullets go what ones have you found that work well considering overall length and such. Thank you again for all your help. Merry Christmas.

I've got one that started out as a .357 mag on an SB1 frame. I have shot both the 180gr XTP and the 180gr Speer flatnose .358 out of it.  Got good accuracy with both but decided on the Speer for hunting.  I'm using AA1680 in all loads and getting just over 2000fps.  I've got a set of .357 mag dies but haven't tried to load max cartridges with them.  I bought a set of Hornady max dies.  They are designed to load pointed bullets and were priced about the same as mag dies.  As for performance on game, I killed a 180lb 9pt 2 weeks ago with mine.  The deer was quartering toward me at around 50yds.  I hit him in the front shoulder and got a pass through with the bullet exiting about 3/4 of the way down the ribcage on the other side.  The deer dropped in his tracks.  Very impressed with this cartridge.

My shortie maxi is my go to truck gun.  I haven't found anything it didn't like to shoot.  I've got her trained....I pick up the farm truck keys and she jumps in on the passenger side.  If she sees a deer, she loads a Maxi, a yote a magnum and a skunk or a porcupine a 38.  She's a very clever and versatile little lady.

Thank you for your knowledge. I do have another question how much does a reamer cost in order to complete this project? I lucked out today as my Aunt and Uncle got me a gift card for the local gun shop here in town how perfect! This project is getting cheaper and cheaper and far more appealing. Also does anyone have any experience with the Pentax line of rifle scopes? I see they have a lifetime warranty and hear they have very good clarity just wondering if anyone could give me a professional opinion. Thanks again and Merry Christmas everyone.

For a maxi reamer, PM Tim and get on the list. We have our own here at GBO!!!

The top end Pentax scopes are Burris scopes and a good well made product. The cheaper ones are Chinese and cheap. I have a couple Game seekers in fixed 4 and 6X and they are OK. Not great, not awful.

Please read the 357Max Reamer Idea sticky, THEN send me a PM, I don't like to have to repeat what's already covered in the sticky, I've sent the reamer to over 40 members, it's gets a little monotonous repeating the instructions if you know what I mean.  ;)

Alright thanks guys. Also another question do you guys think it would be wiser since it is run on an SB1 frame to just buy a used shotgun for a reasonably cheap price say between $75-$90 and just ship the frame in and buy the 357 Mag and 44 Mag barrels? Also as I have a feeling you fellas have far more experience with the barrel program how much does it cost to ship and such? Thanks again guys appreciate it.

An accessory rifle barrel will cost about $150-$160 after shipping both ways, tax and fitting fee, their shipping and fee costs are on the accessory barrel order form.
