Man You hit a sensative spot!!!! The barge is broke   :'(  I havn't had a chance to fix it. Been thinking of gettin a small skiff to go chase the birds in Sabine lake, for trout. Haven't been to the lake all summer  >:( Too much family stuff to get away!

Somebody else come up with a good story so I can be envious!

Went catfishing last week.  Brought home 38 for a total weight of 85 lbs. :o  Netted 26 lbs. of fillets.
Going next week to Lake Whitney, Northwest of Waco.  They call it the best striped bass lake in Texas.  We will be fishing for them and largemouths.  No catfish.  Freezer is full. ;D
We are going for 3 nights.
I'll let you know how we do.

Just got back from Lake Whitney.  It was one of the nicest lakes I've ever seen.  We had incredible luck with the weather.  The lake was almost glass smooth for the three days we fished it.  We fished about 8 hours a day.  We hardly caught anything.  Our total take was 10 bass, 2 white bass, one crappie and one catfish.  All caught on spinner baits or Pet Spoons, except one of the white bass which took an 8" worm.  We couldn't get a single hit on topwater.
The biggest bass was 2 lbs. 4 oz.  Several were around a pound or a little better and several were even smaller.
All in all, a very fun trip but no fish.
Weather was 60 to 85 degrees.  Water temp was 75.
Scenery was great! :o

Nice fish and pics. Hey is the water level low there like Toledo right now?

Oldshooter,
No, the water is only down a foot and a half.  Nice and clear.
The lake is known for its striper fishing.  Fish to 30 lbs.  We tried trolling with some rattletraps and caught one white bass but the rest of the time was just riding around in the slow Ranger.  :P

It might be like toledo in that the strippers are down by the dam.

But it looks like a nice place to fish!

WOW!  My 1000th post! :o :o
Went out this week to Lake Somerville.  The fish were hitting but couldn't connect with any big ones.  Wife and I caught 11 bass, all around 1 lb.  One 2 lb. catfish on a Rattletrap, then we hit a school of white bass feeding on shad in a cove.  We grabbed the ultralights and caught 31 white bass in 10 minutes on Pet Spoons.  It was a blast! ;D
Someone else tell some stories.  I'm sure someone out there is catching fish!

Went to Lake Bastrop on Monday.  Finally caught some decent bass.  I ended up with 1 one pounder, 2-two pounders, 1 at 3lbs 8 oz, and one at 3 lbs 11oz.
A nice day on the lake.  I like that lake.  Too bad its 109 miles from the house.  Makes for a long day. :P

I just put a way all my bass fishing tackle except for one rod setup with the 1/8oz white spinnerbait.  With the temps here hitting 30 degrees i'm going to give the spinnerbait a few casts before i go to my plastic swimbait.  The swimbait mimic'ing a dying bait fish is a killer in the fall here.  I hooked a really big bass in november one year but never got to see it.  I battled it for around 15 minutes. She had my heavy duty bass rod bent in half too.  It wasn't a turttle because there paths thru the swamp/mud were still there when they went to hibernate.

It could have been a big catfish.  I've caught them on spinnerbaits before.  It seems like a bass would have surfaced at least once.  A catfish would be more likely to stay down.
