G2 Value?
« on: November 24, 2010, 05:30:46 PM »
I'm entertaining the thought of locally trading an AR upper assembly for a like new G2 Contender with a 14" .17 HMR barrel. My upper is valued at $475.00 The G2's owner has offered his pistol with box, owner's manual and 50 rounds of cartridges + $75.00 cash. I haven't seen the pistol or any pics of it yet, and don't know if it's blued or stainless at this point. But does his offer sound like an equitable value?

Thanks for any advice given.

luckydawg13,

Thanks for the quick reply, but I think you misunderstand. I'd be trading a $475 value for the G2, 50rds of ammo + $75.00 Yankee greenbacks. So actually the G2 would be costing me only $400.00. Would this be an appropriate value?

If there is a good quality scope on the barrel then yes.  If not check what new price in your area would be. I think you would be in new G2 ballpark (within $100 or so).

Happy Thanksgiving!

You may approach it this way: A nice reciever will fetch $250-$275 [check GunBroker].  That barrel is worth $175-$200. Grip and forend $65-up, way up.

Then get a .223 barrel.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I've received a few photos of the gun. It's a blued version and looks virtually brand new. Looking at it from PA Myers vantage point, I think it's a good deal. I'll go for it. (And start looking for the .223 barrel.  ;D)

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
