It can be done, but I wouldn't recommend it if you value your eyes and face.  :o

NOPE!
444 is not a streched 44 Mag shell.
Same as you can NOT shoot a 45 colt in a 45-70.
Rims are different, the rifle rounds are tapered (ever so slightly) and the pistol rounds are strait walls.
Yes a 410 will fit in both the 444 and the 45-70 but that too should not be shot.

As stated, you can shoot 38 in a 357 - you can also shoot 44 special in a 44 mag. You can shoot 45 colt in a 454 casull.

Any others come to mind....

I bought a .44 mag Handi last year and it shot worse than any rifle I've owned, and the brass expanded to the point that it couldn't be reused. I did some measuring and concluded that it had a .444 barrel on it that had been marked wrong. H&R never did confirm that but they did replace the barrel.

The specs for a 410 case indicate it has a larger rim diameter and is slightly larger in diameter than a 444M.  The reality of the ones I have tried is that the factory 2.5" 410 slugs will chamber except for the rim and the 2.5" shotshells usually don't because they are bulged at the crimp.  However, if you cut an empty 410 hull to the same length as a 444M and run it through a 444M FL size die it will fit fine, except for the rim.  You either have to turndown the 410 rim or open up the 444M rim cut to chamber this.   I have never fired a factory 410 load, either slug or shot, in my gun and I don't plan too.  Homemade .430 diameter deer slugs is another story.
