Rossi wizard barrel .454 to .460?
« on: October 04, 2010, 08:47:47 AM »
I posted this on the rossi forum but I thought I would try here too.    I saw on able ammo that they have listed a .454 casull barrel, but they are out of stock.  But they are not listed on the rossi site as one of the replacement barrels.  My question is, if it exists would if be feasible and SAFE to ream it to .460 s&w like so many do with their .357 mag to .357 max handis?  I have no real need to, I just thought it would be interesting to have all three options.

The Wizard is chambered in several high pressure offerings, 270 Win included which has the same SAAMI MAP as the Casull and 460 at 65kpsi, case head is just .008" larger on the Casull/460 and is straight walled vs bottlenecked, so I don't think it would be a problem, several members here have rechambered their 45 Colt BC carbines to 460S&W with no problems, myself included, I did mine by hand with a rented reamer, Bobby just did his to Casull and he's happy with his also.

This is what i love about this forum...they run out of LC barrels before i can get one (getting priorities in order, a lot of neglect to correct) i might have an option there. Great bunch of guys....

CDNN still has CR-45 Carbines in stock more than likely, for about $250 you can sell the frame and stock and come out ahead, it's on page 53 44 of their latest catalog.  ;)
