35 Rem 336 Texan with terrible Trigger flop
« on: August 01, 2012, 03:14:41 PM »
I just picked up a 336 Texan from 1963 in 35 Remington.  THe gun is in fantastic shape but the gold trigger with 4lb trigger pull  has terrible trigger flop.   Should I replace the trigger with a Wild West Trigger, but they dont sell gold?  Should I try to fix it?  Or leave it alone?

As you may already know, trigger flop is common with Marlins. A four pound trigger pull doesn't sound bad to me. I like a crisp trigger pull, the flop just goes with the territory.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Happy Triggers. Most seem to love them though. It sounds like a decent upgrade, but they don't give them away.

A straight stocked 35 Remington from 1963 sounds like a perfect woods Gun to me!

Doug, I was able to get my trigger pull down to 40 ozs after about six disassemblies using the tutorial at MarlinOwners.  If I had one at 48ozs I dont think I'd go to the extra trouble if it was crisp.

Hey Guys

its not the trigger pull its the flop that bothers me.  I called Wild West and they still had 3 gold triggers left do I grabbed one.  I have put their triggers on several guns with very good results.

For the outrageous price of the replacement trigger, I can buy a used Marlin.
