Dry firing the Encore will damage the firing pin return spring. That being said, I doubt that you caused any damage with one dry fire. You can check with the breech open by pushing the firing pin forward with a small screwdriver between the hammer and firing pin looking for it to spring back freely. If it springs back and none of the pin is protruding from the breech face no damage has been done. Hope this helps.
