Remington 150gr. SP in a Savage 111
« on: September 17, 2010, 06:56:46 AM »
I have my savage sighted in for 2 1/2 high at 100 yards. I have heard that this is the best way to sight in this round because you have about the same point of impact out to 275 yards. I had a website that I went to where I put in the velocity of my round and how high I had it sighted in at 100 yards it would give me the ballistics out to 1000 yards. Does anyone know of a website like this? thanks.

For deer size game I would sight in 3" high at 100 yards with your 150 gr bullets in the 30-06. That will put your point blank range where you will not be over or under 4" all the way out to 300 yards. And with a center of the front shoulder hold you will kill a deer out to 300 yards. As with any calculation of point blank range you need to shoot your rifle at 100, 200 and 300 yards to verify where your individual rifle actually shoots.

If you go to the Berger website they have a great ballistic calculator you can down load but it will require you to put in the BC of the bullet along with the SD.
