Wrong barrel??
« on: August 05, 2010, 01:16:04 PM »
I'm new to the TCs. I just got my new MGM barrel and it doesn't seem to fit right. How can I tell if they sent me a Contender barrel for my Encore? The hinge pin is larger than the hole on the barrel and, even if it did fit, there seems to be a 3/4" gap in the rear.  I have no other barrels to compare this one to.

Thanks, Dinny

I don't have an Encore, but from your description that's exactly what I'd say the problem was.

The breech end of the barrel measures .810". MGM thinks it's wrong too, they're gonna make me a new one and I should have it in a few weeks. This after waiting nearly 10 weeks for the wrong one.  :(

Thanks, Dinny

What barrel did they send you? Is the caliber stamped what you ordered, or is it something different too?

Nope it's marked correctly, .357 Maximum. It's the right length and muzzle diameter too. They just got a new office lady in when I ordered my barrel. She argued with me while placing the order and even sent me an invoice for a Contender, initially.  I had thought I got her straightened-out but perhaps not in time for the production order. The last invoice stated Encore, but nobody else knew that but the two of us. I almost canceled the order before it even got started based on the way I was being treated by her. After a few minutes of talking to Kerry, I continued as planned. He did get trumped by her and I had to pay the cost of bluing even though I wanted it in an unfinished condition for Duracoating.  :-\

Thanks, Dinny

Dinny, don't give up on MGM they are a fine company and make a great bunch of barrels.Sorry to here they changed the office lady cause the old one was very sweet and knowledgeable. Kerry is a great guy.

I couldn't agree more! I trust he will make it right. Waiting just sucks......
