New Handi on Layaway (pic added)
« on: June 17, 2010, 02:58:12 PM »
Went in a Pawn Shop today and I found a .30-30 with a straight gripped camo lamo stock & a Simmons 3.5-10X40 Whitetail Classic scope for $229.00.  I put a deposit on it.

Some of you guys are lucky in one way, and unfortunate in another.  I don't have a pawn shop within 100 miles, and I envy you that.  On the other hand, I can hunt 1000 acres of private land or shoot out my back door any time I want...........I do miss the Pawn Shops though :'(

petemi,

I'd trade all the pawn shops in this area for just a little of that shooting/hunting land closer than I have to go.

All the pawn shops around here think 2X the original price is about right.

Handi's are scarce as chicken teeth around here in pawn shops.  I found a 280 untra comp. the other day and the guy wants $329.00 for it and won't budge.  I didn't dicker long, as I really don't care for the 280.

I would love to find a 30 30 at a good price though!

Good find Swamp, hope it shoots well.

Ben,

H&R never made a 280 Ultracomp, has to be added aftermarket, it was only offered in 270 and 30-06.  ;)

That could be the case.  It's a 26" barrel with a compensator, and has a standard pallet wood stock.  I really didn't get too interested at that price, and as I said, the 280 doesn't interest me anyway.

If he had come down quite a bit, I could have used another receiver and stock set. ;)

Nice acquistion and I am jealous.  I want a camo laminate stock set but every used gun I find with this type of stock is a youth model with the medallion. :(  Let us know how it shoots.
