Preferred loads for PT-145
« on: August 18, 2010, 08:48:47 PM »
I picked up a new PT-145 Pro earlier today & thought I'd check with you folks as to any factory ammo that you've found functions flawlessly & any homebrews that do their job and are accurate enough for plinking.

Any info?

The only factory loads I shot it mine are 230 gr FMJ Winchester.  I had zero problems with them and i put 100 rounds through my pistol in an hour of shooting.  I have tried three hand loads.  The first was with a lee tumble lube 200 gr SWC with 4.8 gr of WST.  My pistol did not like this load as I had repeated failures to feed though the same load works fine in three other pistols I own.  The failures all occurred in the first half of the magazine once I got down to five remaining rounds it never jammed.  The second load were the same powder charge with a Rainier plated 200 gr HP bullet.  These worked fine and I put a couple hundred through the pistol in a days shooting.  The last load is the same powder charge with a 200 gr Lee cast round flat nosed bullet designed for the 45 colt.  Again same powder charge but this bullet works very well in my pistol.  I have put nearly 500 through it without a single malfunction.
