Okay, the local sporting goods store has a Bear longbow, 50#, at $300.  I buy it, I support a local establishment.  Or should I go for a Bama bow for +/- the same cost, and why?

Question:  Did you get to shoot this Bear Longbow?  I love Bear Bows, so if you got to shoot it, how did it stack or not stack?  Did it have any hand  shock?

I have no personal experience with the Bear Longbows, but I do with BamaBows and the Hunter model in 55# which is a dream to shoot.  You see one is a production longbow, and the other is a custom longbow where you can talk to the bower, and choose exactly the woods you want used.  Go to http://www.bamabows.com and look at all the differant woods etc.  Call Nate and talk to him, he can put what you want and guarentee his work.

If I were ordering another longbow, it would be another one from BamaBows.

And BTW it is BamaBows not Bama Bow

I believe that would be the Bear Montana? I've shot several of them & they shot well for me. Whether to buy local or from a custom bowyer in another state is not for me to decide. If you do decide to buy a custom, remember you can buy most of your supplies from the local shop.
I've done both, & feel the right answer is what you feel is right for you. Both are American companys.
Good luck in your decision, I don't think either is right or wrong.
