Rossi Wizard
« on: July 09, 2010, 07:30:04 PM »
These things are not showing up as in stock at Budsgunshop.com $259.00 shipped.  If I hadn't just picked up a H&R Sidekick for a project I would have gotten one just to see how they work.  Interchanble barels without fartory fitting, and a good price to start with.  Larry

It would be nice if they came with a wood or laminate stock.

I wouldn't buy a Rossi for $150.00

I was actually looking at these hard this spring, but they ended up not having all the calibers ready for production this year.  The barrels also, although slightly more expensive don't require shipment of your firearm to the factory, so with the savings on shipping, I don't think you're too far off.  Certainly they are almost 1/2 the price of Encore barrels.  I was hoping .45-70 would be one of their first round releases, but they are doing just .223, .243, .22-250, .270, 30-06.  At least that's the only one's I've seen listed.  One of the gun shops near me, said he can also order the .22 rimfire, 20ga and 12ga sizes as well.  If they actually start producing all the calibers they claim they will have, it'll be a nice platform.

Same as a new Handi barrel ($96 barrel + $25 fitting charge + $19 S/H = $140) and you have to ship it to H&R too.

Time will tell. If the Rossi "works" and holds up it seems it could be a better deal not having to ship to the factory and all that is offered is available. I've been looking at the Rossi setup a while now also. eddiegjr

I've got 2 rossi's... a 223 bull barrel and a 7.62x39. They are both good shooters and I haven't had any problems with them. Alot of the guys who badmouth Rossi's have never even touched one. It's like the Ford vs. Chevy thing.

The stock does look kind of weird... I'd like to get my hands on one to see how it fits. I know you didn't say anything bad... I didn't mean to come across like that... alot of guys just don't give 'em a chance before they say they're no good.

I've never had a chance to fire one either.  The owner of Goldstar Outdoors, a local sporting goods shop here, has purchased their old version for his son and father.  Both are accurate, but his only complaint was the trigger pull, stock came out at over 8lbs for both.  I would love to get my hands on a new style one and see if they've made any improvements in this.

It may look different but it looks like it will give you a very good check weld. I am optimistic about them, plus they are offering Laminated stocks now and I have been looking at their 7.62 barrel models for awhile, I just didn't want there synthetic or regular wood stock for it, a set of black lams would fit very nice to my liking 8)

Wait we are talking about Rossi, right ??? ;D in the NEF/H&R forum ::).... O well, I guess it's a little off topic but some healthy competion is good for biz.

$260 for a Rossi is hard to swallow, a couple years back they were in the $120ish bracket :-\
