357 Max to 35 Rem

I just bought an older Ultra rifle factory chambered in 357 Max and was wondering if it would be possible to get this converted to a 35 Rem. I left a message for a couple of gunsmiths but they must be closed on Mondays. I'm not a handloader and tried various 357 Mag loads out of this rifle with only so-so accuracy. I already own a 357 trapper that shoots well and I figured a 35 rem would be a unique round in a Handi. Thanks in advance

Well, not too unique, I ran a 35 remington reamer I have into a 357 Max chamber that someone had butched up and it seems to have worked out well.  There are quite a few others who have them also.  Larry

I'd hate to mess up a factory .357 Max barrel.

Wayne York at Oregunsmithing does excellent work.He has done several Handi mods for me,including a .357 to .35

My "gunsmith" is the one that botched up the barrel Larry is talking about.  Larry was the catalyst that put together a 3 way barrel trade by reaming my messed up chamber to .35 Rem.  He's one hell of a man. ;D

Thanks for the help. I just got off the phone with Wayne and I am on the way to the post office with the barrel. I should have it back in pleanty of time for hunting season.

I just got back from Wayne's shop, he's got a bunch of Handis he's working on!! I'm sorry, I kept him from working for a little over an hour whilst I was there, but I tore myself away so he could get back to work on em, he'll do a wonderful job for you!!  ;D
