H&R Classic Replacement Barrel
« on: July 10, 2010, 12:24:26 PM »
Greetings,
I just traded for a H&R Classic in 45 Colt. I got it to allow young nephews a chance to deer hunt at close range till they age a bit more. I have no plans to scope the  rifle as it will be for under fifty yards. However I am a little smitten with this rifle and wonder where and if aftermarket barrels in .357Max are sold? I have seen where people are rechambering 357mags to the Max and assume these are factory barrels. Are extra barrels being sold? Fill me in on these little guns someone who know?

The 357 mag. is available as a replacement barrel from the factory, but not the max.  Those with the max. have rechambered for it.

This link will give you more info.

As Ben said, the only source for a 357Max barrel would be the used market, preferably in the H&R Classifieds here, H&R only offers 357mag accessory barrels, they have in the past made Max barrels, but not for a long time. You can make your own Max real easy if you can get hold of a barrel either from H&R or used, see the sticky Ben pointed out, there are three waiting on the list at this time, the reamer is inbound to me right now. Be aware that 357mag or Max barrels go fast if and when they become available in the classifieds here, so be patient, some members have waiting months for one, you'll find barrel fitting info in the FAQs if you wish to go with a used barrel.
