Savage 93R17 and Scope
« on: June 15, 2010, 06:30:49 AM »
I am wanting to buy a .17 hmr rifle.  The one that has caught my eye is the Savage 93R17 GLV.  There are a few reasons that this particular one sticks out to me.  First of all, the price.  It was one of the lower prices I was able to find.  Second, the fact that it is a Savage, and I have heard a lot of good things about Savage's.  I like the accutrigger, and the heavier barrel that come on this model.  I also shoot left handed and so this is one of only a handful of left handed models I was able to find, and it is in my price range.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this model (right or left handed).  It seems like a quality gun (for the price), but none of the local gun shops have either a right handed or left handed model in stock for me to lay my eyes on.  I am just looking to move on from my .22lr to something with a little more pop and better accuracy.

I was also wondering what scope would be the best fit.  Right now, I have a 4x scope that I will use for the time being, but eventually I would like to get a more powerful scope to take advantage of the range of the .17.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I must apologize.  I wrote this before reading through some of the other posts, and then when I did, I found there was one about a similar model with a lot of the information I was looking for.  I still would appreciate any additional input.

Hi Mountain,

I have a Savage 93BV17 or some such in .17HRM.  I really like it alot!  I have a weaver 4x16 classic V scope on it.  I'd also have a look at the Mueler scopes that are advertized here on GB, they're sponsors and seem to make a nice product!
