Using MRE heaters works good also.

I know that in Santa Rosa, CA several people have been injured by these things left in parks.  Most of them were volunteers cleaning up parks (or just people picking up trash as they are out for a walk).  If the people who leave these things out are caught, they need to have their fingers broken.
