Palin to Jindal: Ignore Feds, Protect Your State

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is pushing Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal to ignore federal rules and build berms to protect his state's coastline.

According to The Hill, Palin tweeted Monday evening: “Gov.Jindal:to avoid ravished coast, build the berms.Ask forgiveness later;Feds are slow to act,local leadership&action can do more for coast.”

The federal government has yet to sign off on Jindal's plan, which has angered the governor. Many Republicans have complained about the Obama administration’s response to the oil spill.

Jindal said Sunday that the Army Corps of Engineers had approved a limited amount of reconstruction of sandy barrier islands that Louisiana had first built during Hurricane Katrina. But Jindal complained that not enough construction had been approved or quickly enough, and that BP should be made to pay for the construction.

The sad truth of the matter here, is that if it were a Republican run House and Senate, and Presidency, Jindal would facing the same thing. The Republicans are doing EXACTLY what the Democrats did during the Hurricane, which is using a disaster that effects people to "raise political hay".
If I were Jindal, I would get the dredges started and tell the Feds (Democrat & Republican) to kiss my southern ass. I think Jindal has the sense and ability to do a far better job protecting his state that the either one of the parties.

Basically that is what Sarah is telling him.  We have had our fill waiting for them to do swomething only to have them wait till after it was too late or nevfer do anything.

There is just one little problem--MONEY.  Louisiana doesn't have the extra money to get the ball rolling and dredging outfits aren't likely to work for a vague promise of payment.  The federal government will most likely have to pay the cost of building any kind of barrier and the last time I heard, the federal government isn't exactly flush with cash.  BP might eventually have to pay for the whole thing, but I wouldn't bet on that either.

No arguement there magooch, just more of the same, and La. will pay, just like the rest of the nation always pay. The words in a old Merle Haggard song always ring true. Politicians do all the talkin, and the soldiers pay the dues. Just like the American people.

Maybe Sarah's response got enough attention that it got the Feds off their rears and doing something.  The Commander in charge has told Bobby Jindell BP will pay for the construction of the Barrier Islandes neded to protect LAs coast.  Looks as if action is being taken.

If Obama bails out BP, that will piss me off. If he turns BP into a couple gas stations, that would be excellent.
