...And Nero "fiddled" while Rome burned
« on: June 03, 2010, 06:08:58 AM »
   Most of us are concerned with the greatest ecological catastrophy to hit our nation. We are also in great sympathy with the suffering people of our Gulf coast.

   Still; the Obamas found time to enjoy an evening... to relax, lay back and forget their cares.... with Paul McCartney.

I think Nero was just indifferent. I think Obama is actively working as hard as he can to destroy this country.

Good title for the thread ironglow. Barack is a social kinda guy. Where else can he have the stars at his beck and call on someone else's dollar? The fact is though, if he's drinkin champagne, and feelin no pain, he ain't screwin things up as much. Barack takes himself too seriously, and maybe, enough voters will see that. Then again, maybe not.
He wants to raise taxes on the oil business, and $10.00 a gallon gas is just what he needs to finish the economy off. Maybe he's celebratin not wastin a crisis.

 Demos and publos are the same.Both are working hard towards the same goal.All the arguing on the senate floor is a smoke and mirrors show,like pro-wresting good vs bad.All the previous administrations took turns putting the pieces in place.With our para-military police and the creation of homeland defense,fema,dumbing down and indoctrination of our youth.Freedom and liberty are on the way out. No one believes a third party can win,they told us so we believe.Were toast.

Splicer, I'm going to have to disagree; Republicans and Dumycrats are not the same.  Republicans as a political party aren't without their imperfections, but to try to lump them in with the Dumycrats that have totally abandoned any trace of Americanism in favor of communism/socialism and worse, I think is an effort to obfuscate the obvious blatant change in the Dumycrat philosophy in recent years.

I also do not believe that a third party is automatically any different than what obtains in the the two dominant parties.  The real problem lies with the electorate.  In general it seems that when people congregate in large metropolitan, high density environments, they go haywire and get all socialistic.  Big cities are the enemy of freedom, liberty and individual responsibility.  Even small cities are all too happy to affect the trappings of modern day metropolises.

Jefferson warned about big cities:

"When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe".

His vision was a nation of farmers, ranchers, and cottage industry..small business.

He also said:

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.  If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency (Fed Reserve), first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Wise man, saw it coming.

  Magooch;
      I must agree. It sure seems like when one takes up residence in a large city, they seem to lose any sense of individuality, personal responsibility and personal identity. They seem to be willing to submerge their individual self in favor of the whole of the crowd, operating with form of mob mentality. They often seem to have great trouble grappling with the idea of individual independence and responsibility.
   I am not indicting all who live in large metropolitan areas, surely there must be one here and there who longs to breathe free and independant, but is condemned by circumstances.
