SS Ultra Hunter in .308 ?
« on: May 29, 2010, 10:51:41 AM »
Any one have any idea if the SS Ultra hunter will be offered in something other than .45-70 someday ?  I would love to get one with the thumbhole stock in .308 (or .30-06) to keep in a load I already use and keep ammo for.

Thanks,
Shane

The stainless Ultra Hunter has been available in 444 Marlin also, but you can buy the stock from H&R and sometimes from Boyd's who makes them, forends are only available from H&R when they have them(see FAQs), no options on the stainless frame tho, they're only on the Ultra Hunters. H&R still offers the 30-06 with stainless barrel and matte nickel frame, swap out the syn stock, that's about as close as you'll get.

How does ones find out about this? Not on website or in catalog. I thought the only way to get a SS '06 was as an accy bbl?

Well you're right, it appears they dumped all of the standard SS rifles  :-\, but you may still be able to find one, lots of them around, I'd start with a WTB in the classifieds.

Thanks guys.  Too bad they don't increase options.  Not sure if it takes different tooling but it seams easy enough.
