Just a couple questions

Fifty years ago a friend had what he said was a "Harley 61".  I thought it was the coolest bike ever, and I still do.   His dad had a "74".  These were bright, knowledgeable people.

The "61" was a dark metalic (?) green "dresser", a tad smaller overall in size than the "74".     Did anyone every hear of a stock sixty one cubic inch Harley?


My next question is:   What kind of fuel mileage do people get with their big Harleys on a trip at highway speeds?   My old Gold Wing got 30 mpg on the road.  I was not impressed.

  I just got back from a week long trip in Utah with my '07 HD Road Glide...averaged about 46 miles per gallon for the trip..fully loaded 2 up.( Orange one in pic)

Couple extra questions.....How long does a final drive belt go before it should be replaced?   and....What year did Harley abandon the chain final drive on it's road bikes?    And....Is the gearbox still a completely separate unit from the engine?

   The final drive belt is usually good for well above 100,000+ miles...don't know when they got rid of the antiquated chain drive, just glad they did! The gearbox is still separate from the motor but now they have internal oil ports which eliminated the exterior oil lines.
