Right now I have a older 4x 28mm Leupold on my Marlin 1894 32/20. I am going to put the 2-7x Leupold from my 218 Bee on the 32/20. That means I need another scope for the 218Bee which is also a M-94. I want at least a 3-9x on the Bee but DO NOT want a large scope on it so that the rifle appears attatched to the scope instead of the other way around. What should I put on the Bee? I am thinking about the Burris Timberline 3-9x 32mm. I think size wise it would fit the Marlin 1894. I could stay with a 2-7x and go with the Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x and still be about the same size. Problem is that I have no experience with either scope and just can't justify the cost of staying with Leupold on guns that I am only going to play with.
The second rifle is a Knight KP-1 in 45/70 that qualifies as a "primitive weapon" for what was once the blackpowder/muzleloader season in Louisiana where I live and hunt. I just sold the 1.5-4.5 Swift I had on it because I wanted something a little brighter. I think a fixed 4x would be adequate but would use a 2-7x if I find the right deal. I shoot this 45/70 with some heavy loads and need something that can stand up to that kind of recoil. We have a week at the beginning of season and another at the end of season to use these rifles but I rarely get to hunt with it more than a couple days. Again, I hate to tie up the money in a scope that will rarely be used. I may take the fixed 4x Leupold from the 32/20 and put on the 45/70 but it is OLD and the poorest Leupold glass I have ever seen. Maybe I should send it back to Leupold to see what they can do with it. Any suggestion on what glass to put on the 218 or the 45/70???
