Accessory Barrels?
« on: April 17, 2010, 04:31:47 PM »
As some of you may know, it is mid-April.

H&R said they would have barrels back in stock around now.

Anyone hear anything?

Matt

P.S. I plan on calling monday.

I caled about 2 weeks ago and CS said the barrels that come in are already gon and spoking for,and that if you want a barrel thats not in stock the best thing to do is order and pay for it that way your already in lin for the next batch.

For what it is worth, I called just over a week ago and was told .270 would be made this quarter and to go ahead and send in my reciever and the order form so I was in the line up, those with recievers there would get their barrels first.... but then in the same call she said that after they have "X" amount of recievers there for say .270 they would order a batch to assemble and fill those orders. Which didn't make that much sense to me since she just said they are scheduled to be made this quarter. If they were not scheduled to be made soon maybe she wouldn't have said send it in. -Brent

Sent my frame in for a .444 about a week ago. The service person said they had a "few" in stock. I'm on pins and needles, always wanted a .444. I got the dies, brass, and molds all ready to go. I'm pretty much a cast bullet shooter. I just read somewhere they will 'tune up' your trigger a little if you ask them, is this just wishful thinking? I'm wishin' it's true!

Stands to reason..They started making barrels and they're already gone to folks on the list or too frames that have been sittin there waiting for them.
It just don't make sence, but there's likley a bunch of handi owners out there that don't check in here  ::) ??? ::)

So I talked to CS yesterday and they have about a dozen of the barrel I want in stock but most of the others are still out of stock.  I think I will send my frame in next week to get it fitted.  Not finding a used barrel anytime soon and most of them are going for new fitted prices anyway.  Now to decide which frame to send in.  The 22 hornet with the standard stocks and odd receiver that nothing fits or my 2007 223/20ga USH with Thumb hole stocks.  I think I'll put it on the T-hole since it is the newest with the closest tolerances.

Thanks,
Matt

I would not send in a receiver with a nice stock to get fitted. Put on the worst stock you have.

Be aware of the new fitting and shipping fees plus tax and the cost to ship your frame to them, a $96 barrel ends up $140 plus tax and your shipping cost.  :-\

+1 on Jim's recommendation, even better advice is to send just a frame and add a stock set to the order, your shipping cost to them is less than $10 insured in a small flat rate box.  ;)

When I sent the receiver in the first time, I sent it without a stock set.  Will they still accept it that way?  Man I really want this on its own frame but I don't think I can swing it right now.  Does walmart sell the 357 rifle?  I looked in their Special Order Catalog last night and it wasn't listed but I know that doesn't mean they can't get it.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt, there's a SB2 .357 (SB2S35) on Gun Broker right now.  It's not cheap.  I think he's asking 300 NIB.  That's a hard rifle to find.

I have found the easiest thing to do is buy a new Handi and sell the parts you don't need or want.
