Bolt clearance on 550 FS
« on: March 11, 2010, 03:08:24 AM »
I just received a new 550 FS in 6.5 x 55 this week.  I'm thinking I'll order Talley medium rings and a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 x 40 for this rifle.  Has anyone tried this combination on their CZ?  I'm hoping I don't have bolt clearance issues with this due to the relatively large eyepiece on the Zeiss.  BTW, I'm very pleased with the build quality of this rifle.  I plan on shooting in the iron sights before mounting the scope.  At 51, this is my first bolt action and will be my first scoped rifle.  Although I've shot a few owned by friends and family, I've never owned one myself.

OK, I'll ask another way--What scopes have you been able to fit with medium rings?

I have a CZ 550fs in 9.3x62mm with a Leupold vxII 3x9x40mm
in warne medium rings, works very good. Now the rear ring has
a hook that goed into cut-out. I think the front ring should go
all the way forward in slot but then the scope is not back far
enough, so I cheated by moving ring back in slot so that back
of ring is at end of slot. I made it good and tight---so far so good.
