Gotta love the Excalibur Exocet
« on: November 08, 2009, 07:27:16 AM »
I bought one this year and gotta say it is a blast to shoot.  Easy to maintain, accurate and a great support group for questions, successes and "the agony of defeat".

Hope this forum starts getting a lot of traffic.

Yes, I will be picking up a Phoenix when my funds allow. I love my PSE Viper Copperhead and got my first crossbow deer with it two weeks ago, but the Phoenix seems to be more of what I eventually want.  :)

I'm curious...can you cock it with a cocking rope and how loud does it shoot?  It may be my next crossbow.

Yes, the rope cocker works. This crossbow is not very loud, but it is very user friendly. My PSE is much louder, but it still takes game. I test fired the Phoenix and it is awesome.....

You can get lots of info on Excalibur's website.  Along with Graybeard and Nosler's forum the Excal is one of my frequent sites.

One thing I can say about Excalibur. They offer most of their line-up with open sights, which is what I like, and still offer scopes, etc. for those who want them. I shopped around pretty well and had my eye on a several but you either had to settle for a scope or red dot sight. I wanted pin sights which is why I got my PSE Copperhead, which killed a deer last month. With the exception of Excalibur, it is NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to find a quality hunting crossbow that has pin sights....... I even called some competitors and they all asked me "Why do you want pin sights?" Reminded me of asking someone why they want extra pickles on their hamburger ::). It's good to see Excalibur give an "Old School" option in their products. That is something I can not say about others.

You cannot go wrong with any excaliber crossbow, they are the best quality and value IMHO

My Vortex model makes archery almost to easy  ;D

And I am also an open sights fan for crossbows. No pin sight for me though , mine has the factory excaliber peep rear sight with fibre optic front sight. I have it adjusted dead on at 25 yards which allows me to shoot anything from 0 yards to 40 yards without adjusting much for POI.
