1895 Russian Nagant Revolvers
« on: February 22, 2010, 05:02:00 AM »
Yup these were designed in 1895 and while there not too pretty they can grow on us.  I find these seven round shooters more a part of russian military history and a collectable.  So many times in the past i didn't buy a surplus military gun only to regret it later on when they all dried up.  At the going rate of $79 there hard to beat.  This old russian mack truck revolver lasted for many years in service too.  I wasn't really interested in them either but i had to have one.  Of course now i wished i purchased more of them. Now after pawing on one i find them interesting and different.

I have been looking at them pretty hard myself. At the last 3 gun shows I have been to here in Missouri they have been going for $120.00 to $140.00--wish I could come across one for less than $100.00.

If i see these again for $79 i'll take 10 of them.  Just to play with on a rainy day at the range.

I have 2, have the original cylinders but have new cylinders in .32 H&R mag. with the mag cylinders they'll outshoot my Ruger single six .32 H&Rs.  Had to make the front sight a little higher. Great little guns to pack.  Think I pd. $75 each for them.  Killed lots of jackrabbits with them.

Hank
Did you bore out the the .32 acp cylinders to make the .32 magnum cylinders--or did you buy them chambered for .32 magnum?

Cybin, yep, I bought .32 acp cylinders, ran a .32 mag reamer in, they'll still shoot .32 acps, .32 s&w, .32 S&W long or the .32 H&R mag. Did the reaming by hand, even with 7 chambers only took a few minutes.

Thanks Hank--if I can find one of them I'm going to either buy a .32 acp cylinder or make one--then ream  it to .32 mag.  Either that or see if there is enough metal in the orginal cylinder to ream it out .02 to .03 and make a bushing with internal bore for the .32 mag. That will depend  on how thick the cylinder walls are.

Thanks again,
