32 H&R

Could the 32 H&R rifle be rechambered for a 327 Federal ? Or is the lifter and feed mechanism too difficult to replace?

I think you may need to ask on the H&R thread.

Highly unlikely, way long. Might be a good Marlin smith could rearrange things to work.

Rechambering is only part of the issue - Marlin 336 & 1894 barrels are thin in the thread area; while .327Fed pressures run 2x over those of .32H&R Mag's.

The 900-pound gorilla is that AFAIK, there's no M1894/.327 Fed parts to swap in - and it'll be pretty onerous to rework the shapes/stops of the .32H&R Model 1894 internals.

Thanks. I was wondering, since the action is long enough for full length 357/ 44 mags, and the chamber diameter for the 32 is much smaller that pressure would not be an issue, after all the total pressure on a 44mag hot load compared to a 327 would still have to be much greater, with lots less steel. The lifter and feed mechanisms I did see as a problem and I guess I was right , unfortunately. I would love a handi in one, or a 94 Marlin cowboy version.

You would likely be better off starting with a .357 or .44 mag and trying to turn it into one than starting with the .32 mag I think. Of course you could always ask folks in the business of doing such things.

GBO Sponsor SSK Industries has turned a bunch of Marlin .35 Rem. into .356 for folks so you might call JD up and ask if they can make you up a Marlin like you want and if so what would be the proper base rifle to begin it with.
