my first H&R

got my first handi in 223 rem and I looked inside the owners manual and everything and there was no info about the gun. So i was wondering some stuff, whast the barrel twist, and what bullets shoot well in this gun. It has grooves going down the barrel so i dont think it is the bbl. anyways anyone who has info all you can give me would be much appreciated, thanks

Welcome! Twist on the 223 depends on when it was made, it appears to be a Fluted Ultra Varmint which will likely be 1:9" twist, is it new or used? You can determine what the twist is by the info in the FAQs and Help sticky twist rate list, there are instructions listed under it. The FAQs is chocked full of helpful information on how to get the best accuracy from your H&R.

That's a great deal, I paid $275 for my 22-250 fluted Ultra Varmint several years ago!! Yours will be 1:9" twist, it should shoot up to 69-75gr bullets depending on their length, 40gr too or anything in between.  ;)

Ive shot this rifle three times and the first 30 rounds or so wouldnt shoot worth a .... They were shooting left then to the right and so on I checked the rail mountm and scope made sure everything was tight and it was then got a new scope and the last 20 rounds or so have been shooting much tighter groups about 1 inch or so at 100yds just resting off shooting sticks or my truck) Been shooting the 55gr vmax seems like every ten rounds or so the shot groups are getting tighter. so its a 1:9" twist fluted ultra varmint with the choate stock?

Do you reload?  I could put together some heavy bullet sample packs for you. My .223 is a 1:12" twist. ;)

I am trying to get into the reloading thing, my buddy has everything and said I could use it all up since his M4 doesnt like his reloads for some reason. I beleive he said he has 55gr nosler and vmax bullets. anyways how much would it cost me for some reloads from you?

Sorry they're not for sale, there's too much of a liability. I could give you some bullets and brass if you wanted to start reloading yourself.   ;)
