I cannot believe the local game officials are not out actively searching for this animal to destroy it!  It has obviously lost it's fear of humans to have tried to attack the pup while the woman was present.  How do they know the mangy beast was not rabid?  What if it had been a human infant or toddler instead of a puppy?  Next time it might be.  I'ld be raising one heck of a stink with the game dept. and or be out hunting coyote myself if anything like that happened to my wife.
