Steal or no steal?
« on: February 02, 2010, 02:58:03 PM »
Or is that "deal"..?  I just got a "Handy Gun II" in beautiful stainless/nickel (whichever) in 30-30 for $150 and a little pocket lint....had to dig deep.  It's an "AZ" prefix which I take is a 1985?
As I understand it...they won't put another barrel on it?  But any reason not to rechamber to 30-30AI?
thanks!

Sounds like a reasonable deal to me, it's not stainless tho, it's electroless nickel finished including the barrel, I'd rechamber it as long as you stayed within 30-30 pressures, it's still a cast iron frame.  ;)

I's thinking it was the electroless nickel...wasn't sure, but seemed to look a lot like my 80's Colt and I figure they're not going to make stainless at Handi prices.  I've got two other "modern" Handi's I can put some high pressure barrels on.  I kinda like this one the way it is.  Oh, it has the lightweight barrel with a front sight.  It came with a 4x Weaver that, from appearances, has seen two wars.....Spanish American and WWI...well, maybe not that old...on second thought, may have been used as an agricultural implement during those two wars....That, I will replace.
