Most CF ammo is sold in 20 round boxes, most 22 Hornet ammo is sold in 50 round boxes.  Larry

I find the Hornet to be accurate and easy to load.
The fun factor is worth it even with factory ammo.
I spend the same amount of money but get to
shoot more by loading my own.

I have been reloading the Hornet and K Hornet for almost 40 years. Some folks say that it is difficult to load. Not so, I have buckled a few shoulders, but it was my fault for not having chamfered the inside of the necks. With Lil Gun powder you get over 500 loads per pound.

If you don't reload, check out S&B ammo. They are quite reasonable from what I've read. I got some of their once fired brass in a trade. It works well.

The S&B 45gr FMJ are the most accurate in my 10" T/C Contender so far. I would like to try the S&B 45gr soft point along with the Federal 45gr soft point but have a hard time finding them. The last box of Winchester 45gr soft points I bought had splits in the neck area on four out of the fifty rounds in the box  :(  I really never shot my Hornet barrel enough to justify reloading but I'm getting ready to change that with a new H&R Handi-Rifle in .22 Hornet. I guess I better get a set of dies and some of the Calhoon 30gr HP bullets and see what kind of fun I can have.

Nice round - the 35 gr Vmax bullets provides an over 3k fps that gives an extra 50-75 yards over the old 45 gr standard bullet. They are only less expensive to reload based on lower powder costs than 223 Rem or 204 Ruger.
